My goal in photography is to capture
personalities and life, not necessarily a smiling portrait.
While traditional photography studios want children to smile and say
"Cheese" I capture a memory.
The first picture you will see in
the OrKIDS! gallery is shy little Ben. While his brother constantly
hammed it up for me, it took almost a year for Ben to build
up enough courage to ask me to take his picture. He wanted
to be brave like his brother but it was impossible for him to
hide his overwhelming shyness. These are the personalities
I want to capture. The differences between these two brothers will
never be found in a traditional portrait studio where "Cheese"
is required.
I throw out the "Cheese" and replace it with
real life!
